Rattataki

The Rattataki are feared across the galaxy for their well-earned reputation as brutally violent warriors. Hardened by their unforgiving homeworld, the Rattataki have waged war against each other for centuries. Even during times of peace, the Rattataki take to ceremonial gladiatorial combat to settle personal slights and family rivalries.

The Rattataki lived in relative isolation until the beginning of the Great War, when the Sith Lord Vich discovered their rocky and barren homeworld. Vich promised the Rattataki glory in the Great War against the Republic, and recruited an army of Force-sensitive Rattataki to be trained in the ways of the Sith. Before long, Vich had forged a powerful Rattataki army. In a daring power grab, the ambitious Sith Lord rallied these warriors against the Empire. Vich was killed during the insurrection, and many of the Rattataki survivors were enslaved or executed.

After their attempt to overthrow the Empire, the Sith took notice of the fearsome Rattataki. The strongest Rattataki were plucked from slavery and sent to undergo the rigorous trials to become Sith. But other Rattataki resisted the Empire. Some fled their homeworld to live as mercenaries, signing with criminal outfits or the Hutt Cartel. Others stayed behind to fight the Empire’s presence on their homeworld–not for freedom or for the Republic, but simply for the glory of battle.
